SPECTRUM -biography
Emerging on the scene with his first album “Only the Strong Survive” in 2006, Spectrum has established a name in San Diego and abroad. In the mix of performances, writing, and recording he stayed hungry and on his grind. His first album was pushed in many local stores that supported the independent San Diego musicians. As hoped, the albums sold out in those stores. From there Spectrum new that he would have to get his next album, and possibly the re-release of his first album, on a distribution deal. A distribution deal would allow albums to be sold in more big name stores at a higher quantity.
On the newest album you will find more of Spectrum’s own mind productions and soulfully gritty production from Mr. Ridley. He doesn’t include many features on the new album, but one can expect to hear the engaging singer Tiphanyie, and San Diego’s acclaimed rapper Young Jaws. The album plays like a compelling chapter in the novel of Spectrum’s audacious life.
Messages in the music are insightful and intricately intertwined in a melody. “I turned into a diamond miner/ Diggin’ in the darkest caves destined to find riches and pleasures/ Through the measures I bring your ears priceless treasures…” is one example of the creative lines you will hear in his upcoming project. Spectrum has dedicated himself to making music that will make the listener feel something beyond the beats. “Many of the songs are based on real-life experiences put into musical formats.”
Inevitably, after establishing himself as a skillful artist, magazines have sought out the talent. Spectrum has recently had an article featured in San Diego’s Reader Magazine promoting his new album “From Underground to the Sky.” The new album is titled that because it is meant to do just what it says. He knows this album is going to take him beyond his mainly local status. The content is still edgy, in that, it doesn’t have a watered down commercial sound yet it is still attractive to the mainstream audience. His new album is set to be independently released in the 2007 summer, so be prepared.
